Cold & Flu Remedies, Hot Toddy

It's my birthday week and just like clockwise, flu & cold season is upon us.

The weather has been picture perfect.  Warm, light breezes but still last night I felt that familiar inflammation welling up in my chest.

This morning I couldn't stop sneezing and my eyes welled up in tears throughout the day.

By late afternoon, I'd had enough.  At home I found my cold & flu remedies and began checking my pantry for the available ingredients.

Sadly I didn't have the ingredients for a hot toddy but I'll share it with you anyway.

It's one of my favourites for flavour and does the trick.

By the time I finish a couple hot toddies, I'm asleep and then the next day, I feel just fine.

If you're feeling under the weather, enjoy this treat.

Ingredients:

1 ounce brandy, whisky or rum

1 tablespoon honey

1/4 lemon

1 cup hot water

1 black tea bag

Preparation:

Coat the bottom of a mug or tall glass with honey.

Add the liquor and the juice of the lemon.

Boil  water for tea.  Add the tea bag.  Let steep briefly.

Pour the steaming tea into the cup or glass and stir.

Enjoy!
