Cold & Flu Remedies, Turmeric Lemon Tea




Turmeric, a spice used frequently in Ayurvedic medicine and a member of the ginger family of spices, can be used to make a tea that soothes the symptoms of a cold or flu.

It is filled with Vitamin B & C as well a numerous minerals such as Manganese, Calcium, Zinc & Potassium. 

Turmeric is also considered to be highly effective in treating depression which can often occur along with fatigue when one is ill with a cold or the flu.

These are the ingredients & how to make the tea.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1/4 cup of grated fresh turmeric root (or 1 tablespoon ground turmeric)
  • 2 tablespoon crushed fresh ginger root
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup of honey
METHOD:
  1. Peel and grate the turmeric and the ginger root.
  2. Boil in pot of water for 5 minutes.  
  3. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Strain the tea.
  5. Juice the lemon and add to the tea.
  6. Add the honey.
  7. Drink throughout the day to ease pain.
